Have you seen Rogue One yet? Of course you have, so Dave & Marty decided it was enough time to put out their take on Star Wars latest installment. Almost AN HOUR of just nerdy awesome Star Wars talk from two people who definitely view the franchise a bit differently. The boys break down what worked and didn't for them in great geeky detail. Did they both like it? You'll find out... but first Dave and Marty discuss the dangers of buying stuff off eBay or Facebook, which prompts Marty to bring up an odd hairy item he saw recently for sale online. That, and a topical Threes Company discussion broken down in typical Hero Sando form. PLUS an all new Nerd Rage!! The Force is with this one!
Happy Holidays to all the Hero Heads out there. To celebrate Dave and Marty got together in the same room (for the first time) and decided to channel their inner Scrooge to rank the TOP FIVE WORST CHRISTMAS SONGS. After that they decide to do a CHRISTMAS themed Mount Rushmore, where they rank things like FAVORITE TOYS, BIGGEST TOY DISAPPOINTMENTS, TOYS YOU WERE ASHAMED TO ASK FOR, AND MOST SOUGHT AFTER TOYS. Of course in all this they are able to fit in asscheek wedgies, Doberman ears, rogue soccer teams kicking packages and other nonsense. All that, plus Goldbergs, Batman V. Superman talk and an all new Nerd Rage. AN HOUR AND A HALF LONG!! Thanks for a great 2016 guys! Happy Holidays to you and your families!!
Dave and Marty (and Dave's daughter Molly) have returned, and no six months haven't passed. In this episode we hammer out our obligatory Guns N Roses talk, discuss Garage Sale etiquette and toy prices, then go into our main topic- The Holiday Movie Preview... well, sort of. In typical Hero Sando style the boys spend more time waxing on about Who's the Boss and Empire Strikes Back than this holidays upcoming films: Assassin's Creed, Disney's Moena, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The pod ends in a historic Nerd Rage, you won't want to miss it.
Dave and Marty are back, and this time things are different. Unedited, raw and uncut... in an effort to get out more pods the boys decided to just push the record button and chat, and did they ever: What have they been up to, Nintendo Classic and the Nintendo Switch, thought on Dr Strange, and a lengthy discussion of the upcoming Star Wars Stand Alone films like Han Solo, Boba Fett, Obi Wan and more. Plus Marty tries out a new Ebay game with Dave. All that and a new Nerd Rage!! Give a listen!!!
Dave and Marty are back from...ummm... vacation? Well, Dave explains where they were, and it partially involves interviewing for Cobra Commander. As you would expect, the boys have a lot to catch up on, and the topics range from gorillas, Comic cons, Stan Lee, Kevin Smith (and Dave's run in with Ming), William Shatner's odd panel at Wizard World, the Ghostbusters reboot, Guns N Roses, Ant Man, Civil War , and SO MUCH MORE. Then, after a much needed NERD RAGE, the race is on:
Have you seen The Force Awakens!? Of course you have. Are you dying to listen to a couple nerds discuss it in all its spoilerific glory? Then this pod's for you. Dave and Marty are back, and ready to dissect the latest Star Wars offering, but only after they discuss the Guns N Roses reunion, Tea bagging in video games, Star Wars collecting, and of course Marty's Dad's hatred of farts is revisited, but this time it's straight from Marty's dad himself. All of this is foreplay for an epic Star Wars discussion where Marty reveals his theory about who Rey is and most importantly, who dropped her off on Jakku. Many theories are coming out, but we at Hero Sandwich are confident we figured it out first, All that and a new New Rage. Listen now!!! WARNING HEAVY SPOILERS.
Despite the title, our 40th anniversary episode is so much more than just Nerd Rages (although it is the entire second half). The first part of this extra long pod is full of tons of stuff, including daylight savings time, Back To The Future Day, what collectible Hulk comics to look for at your flea market, Scrooge McDuck and most importantly, a wickedly cool in-depth discussion of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (based on the newest trailer). Make no mistake, this is a GREAT episode, but our anniversary shows always are. TONS of content, nearly a 1 1/2 hours, make sure you listen!!
How do I describe an episode that covers what Dave and Marty have been doing all summer AND includes a new Nerd Rage and Nerd Totem Pole? I don't, it's too much. This is a crazy episode which may or may not discuss: Fat Albert's reaction to Cosby,Bat dance and other odd movie soundtracks, the bizarre Dudley/Bike repairman episode of Diff'Rent Strokes, GTA Back to the Future mod, and a Nerd Point/Counter Point that devolves into utter nonsense. Plus so much more! You've waited this long, why not listen? It's almost an hour and a half of new Hero Sandwich goodness!!
The boys are back from a long hiatus and ready to talk, and talk they do. First find out what Dave and Marty have been doing, then dive into almost an hour and a half of new content including a Sh*# You Need to Know news segment discussing the new Ghostbusters films, Disney's acquisition of Spider-man, Dark Horse picks of the summer (including Mad Max Fury Road and Maggie), and a TV review of Star Wars Rebels and The Goldbergs. Second half is a crazy stupid Rushmore on the Smurfs, Transformers and He-Man! Things get real dumb really quick. All that and an all new angry, angry Nerd Rage. A huge Hero Sandwich is hot and ready, order up!
Dave and Marty start Episode 37 talking about "the future," or as we like to call it: 2015. Back to the Future 2 & 3 are discussed as well as other movies set "in the future." After that they play a quick Batman game and talk about Marty's recent trip to GoodWill. As for the second half? So you think sports and nerds don't mix? Well, you're kinda right, but that doesn't stop the fellas from doing the first ever Superhero Fantasy Football Draft: Superbowl Edition. Dave and Marty take turns drafting their football team (QB, RB, WR, K, D), but instead of NFL players, they have the comic book and pop culture world to choose from. Things get really stupid, really quick. With Superman and Thor coaching, who will win, Marty or Dave? Tune in, it probably doesn't end like you think.
The boys are back from Holiday and it appears their stupidity had accumulated throughout December. The first half of the show is explaining where exactly they've been, this immediately erodes into a discussion of a JLA "office" Christmas party would be like. Toy Story "The Land That Time Forgot" is discussed, but hijacked by insults from Dave's sister who obviously has a problem with kind hearted family fun. After an awesome Nerd Rage (where Dave may or may not sing), the bulk of the episode begins: The Nerd
Totem Scrotum Pole. Dave & Marty take ten well known types of nerds and rank them (totem pole style) in terms of least to most nerdy. This is classic Hero Sandwich, back and at forty-nine minutes, longer than ever!
Marty's back from Disney world, and ready to share some embarrassing stories, but not before the boys talk about Thanksgiving and eating lunch in High School. After that they discuss the potential disaster Terminator Genisys. Finally, its a new "Where Do They Go Now?: Toy Story edition. What does Hero Sandwich think of Pixar's announcement there will be a Toy Story 4, and do they think they could do better? All that a a spanking new Nerd Rage!! Dig in!
If you think this episode sounds chock full of goodness, it is. Here's the low down: Remembering vintage comic ads, a dude from the UK puts his Star Wars send away in a CT scanner, Foo Fighters HBO documentary Sonic Highways, including a talk on episode two's "go go" music review. Finally Dave & Marty review Marvel's huge announcement about their future films till 2019. After an all new NERD RAGE the boys have a great discussion of Disney, the films, the parks, and its new acquisitions (Star Wars, Marvel, the Muppets). Dave and Marty end the show with their ideas for new Star Wars and Marvel attractions at Disney World. We will take a few weeks off while Marty visits the mouse, but this is an extra long episode so listen a few times and let this one really sink in.
It's October, you know what that means, it's time for the "Golden Hoagies Awards" show. This year we focus our awards on our favorite decade: the 1980s. With rounds like- Best Car, Best Look (male & female), and Biggest P*ssy to Hero, you know it's going to be good. Before the coveted Hoagies are handed out Dave & Marty discuss two new nerdy TV shows: Gotham and Star Wars Rebels. If you are wondering what to make of these two new offerings from the Geek gods, wonder no more, we break it down. All that and a new Nerd Rage! So brush off that tuxedo and join us on the red carpet, it's Golden Hoagies time!!
The boys are shot out of a cannon with a ridiculous impromptu GI JOE pet discussion, this leads directly into stories from Dave's recent trip to St. Louis where he and Marty hunted for nerd treasures. After that the GOTHAM TV show is geeked over, along with the awesome time suckage that is DESTINY. The second half of the show is fan favorite, MOUNT RUSHMORE! Up for debate: Comic Strips, Tarantino Films, Harrison Ford characters, Weird Al songs, SNL cast members, and finally Fat Comedians. This odd category just spirals into an even odder topic that just needs to be heard. All that, and possibly the weirdest Nerd Rage ever compliments of a drunk Dave.
The boys are back from their anniversary and are ready to discuss even more nonsense. After a brief discussion of PBS, Electric Company (and the odd Marvel marketing during the 1970s) Hero Sandwich reviews the latest nerd news in Shit You Need To Know. First off: Action Comics and its record breaking sale, selling comics on Ebay, and a debate on if Batman's first appearance could ever rival Superman's lofty price (SPOILER alert: Marty wins the argument, but in the oddest way possible). After that Star Wars VII is discussed, specifically the leaked helmets and costumes. We promise you haven't heard it discussed the Hero Sandwich way (Han's duster, the awful Endor costumes, & Chewie in a flat top).
Its finally here, our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY. Late last August we decided to take our nerdy discussions to the masses and we can't tell you how fun of a ride it's been. Since then we've gained a ton of loyal listeners and made a lot of new friends. If you haven't heard it lately- THANK YOU. You have all made this little labor of love worth doing. To celebrate this momentous occasion, Dave and Marty make good on something often discussed- the ALL NERD RAGE show. Sit back, relax, and listen to the boys tear apart SIXTEEN of the nerdy things annoying them at the moment. From Lays to Lettuce, and Cruise to crane games, no topic is left unraged.
Tired of being a third tier podcast always bested by Bronyville, the boys high tail it to the 2014 San Diego Comic Con and (with a few of Dave's connections) get a small but nicely located table to broadcast to the masses. Even better, an exclusive interview with the highly debated Ben "Battfleck" himself gets arranged?
We are back!! After a bit of a summer hiatus the boys are back to talk about all things nerd. First off Marty talks about he's been up to, including a botched Nintendo acquisition. Then Dave talks about a recent huge comic purchase that got him in the dog house. Finally Marty is pissed about the "DLC only" feature of Ripley & Crew in the new Alien Isolation game. For the second half of the show do an awesome new bit: The Ratings Game AKA Overrated, Underrated, or just Rated. That and an all new Nerd Rage!!
This week Dave & Marty go back to their favorite topic... MOUNT RUSHMORE! On the slate this month: Kenner Star Wars figures, John Hughes characters, LOST cast, and best all time music videos. In addition to that craziness: Marty talks about a bar he went to that has classic video game consoles, Dave sees Ecto 5, and the boys give their bizarre suggestions for the new NWA movie!?
